Elsbet Smith

Elsbet Smith - Elsbet SmithELSBET CARROLL SMITH is a Louisiana native who was born in Lafayette and raised in Hammond, where she attended Holy Ghost Catholic School and St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School.

Elsbet graduated from Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia in 2004, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Spanish. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, as well as Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and the Sigma Delta Pi Honor Society for excellence in the study of Spanish language and culture. She lived and studied in Seville, Spain for a year where she perfected her skills of the Spanish language.

Elsbet received her J.D. and Bachelor of Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 2007 and was admitted to the bar in the same year. She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, as well as the Twenty-First Judicial District Bar Association.

Elsbet currently sits on the board of directors of Child Advocacy Services, a non-profit agency which provides services to children and families through CASA and other related organizations in 10 Southeast Louisiana parishes. She also serves on the board of directors of Ginger Ford Habitat for Humanity, Inc. and the St. Thomas Aquinas Alumni Association. She serves as Vice President of Leaders Impacting Tomorrow’s Tangipahoa, a young professional’s organization, and as Chairman Elect of Leadership Tangipahoa.
