Hancock Bank Gulf Coast Economic Symposium
Partners Jay Seale, Patrick Reso, and Lesli Bolner attended the 44th Hancock Bank Gulf Coast Economic Symposium in Biloxi, Mississippi as guests of Hancock Bank with featured speaker, The Honorable John C. Dugan.
Mr. Dugan is the former United States Comptroller of the Currency, serving from 2005 - 2010 under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. He headed the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), which supervises more than 1,500 national banks and federal branches of foreign banks and also served on the Board of Directors of the FDIC. Mr. Dugan served at the United States Department of the Treasury from 1989 to 1993 and was appointed Assistant Secretary for Domestic Finance.
From 1985 to 1989, Mr. Dugan was Counsel and Majority General Counsel for the United States Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. Before serving as Comptroller, he was a partner with the law firm of Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C., specializing in financial and regulatory matters. Mr. Dugan is currently a partner and the Financial Institutions Group Chair at Covington & Burling and advises clients on legal matters affected by the increased regulatory requirements sparked by the financial crisis.
The I-12 Corridor
The I-12 Corridor--that portion of Interstate Highway 10 connecting Slidell and Baton Rouge--is one of the most dynamic regions on the Gulf Coast, with significant business activity, excellent quality of life, and an attitude towards growth which is positive. Economic forecasts for this ribbon of commerce running through the state are invariably favorable in the short, medium and long terms.
Seale & Ross plays a role in the development of the region. We serve as legal counsel to Hammond Area Economic and Industrial Development District. (HAEIDD). T. Jay Seale serves as an executive committee member of the Northshore Business Council and as a member of the Northshore Legislative Alliance. Ken Ross serves as a director of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) and is a member of the Hammond Airport Authority. The firm also particpates in the Chambers of Commerce in Hammond, Ponchatoula, St, Tammany West and Madisonville.
